Even though Samir from Bountii.com had to drop the post (Microsoft’s lawyers asked him to), the buzz continues.
Bink.nu, a blog about developments at Microsoft, talks about it and even the Guardian picked it up. The Guardin gives a detailed oveview, check it out.
I would also recommend to those who use the tracking pixel system to switch to a different system. Could save you some serious trouble down the road.
Samir from Bountii.com posted some alarming information about the tracking pixel used by many Bing Cashback merchants.
I strongly suggest merchants who use the tracking pixel read his post carefully.
Samir suggests that it is possible to send fake transaction data to Bing, resulting in unjustified Bing Cashback rebates to the fraudulent account.
By doing so, a con artist might also "preuse" a merchant’s order IDs. If the merchant’s order system would at some later point use that ID to declare a regular cashback purchase to Bing, Bing would have gotten the same ID twice. This would perhaps result in Bing rejecting the legitimate order (and the customer not getting their Cashback rebate).
It will be interesting to see whether and how Microsoft will react to this thesis.
Samir has also announced to talk about other possible flaws of the Bing Cashback system in the near future.
Hi everybody, I read some disturbing news. It seems like many customers, who bought laptops and other stuff from the hp during their special sale, got their rebates canceled.
If you have had these problems you might want to check these websites:
Consumerist: HP cancels cashback
WareSeeker: Bing Cashback and HP
One possibe explanation is given at WareSeeker: HP will cancel any Bing Cashback purchases if your account (the account used to shop at HP) has access to one of HP’s discount programs (like "friends & family program", "HP Academy program" or "HP Employee purchase program"). See this post for more info.
The lack of a clear explanation and available customer support on both HP’s and Bing’s side are disappointing.
Hi guys, check this out:
I have put up a new section called "Bing Cashback Advertisers’ Advice". If you are advertising via bing cashback, this is for you. I will connect you with a selection of professional consultants and web designers to help you implement Bing Cashback functionality asap or to optimize the results you get with Bing Cashback Advertising.
I also merged the other pages into one.
Seriously guys: if you know how to implement Bing Cashback functionality and pixel tracking, go for it. Shop owners and e-commerce stores ready up for Black Friday and Christmas Season and they need your help!
They are still out there: the guys who look forward to use Bing Cashback but need help integrating the tracking code.
Endless.com provides a large selection of shoes, bags and accessories (Seems like they mainly cater to women, Ive never heard of the site before). Watch out for their little reminder that you get 30%

Money Saving Mom tells shoppers how to make the most out of their budgets. Don’t pay for shipping (wait for free-shipping deals to come along) and use coupons (get them at RetailMeNot).
And finally, of course, use cashback. She actually promotes several cashback websites and doesnt mention Bing Cashback. Anyway, great advice. Guys, prepare for the shopping season and think a little before you hit the “buy” button!
On the Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco, Microsoft announced they will now integrate Twitter tweets and Facebook status updates into the Bing search engine results. They call it Bing “Wave 2″. Basically all the public Twitter information and the publically available Facebook will become accessible and searchable in real-time.
The New York Times reported Microsoft had paid Twitter for the right to integrate the tweet data into the Bing search resuts. On the other hand, the deal seems to be non-exclusive. That means that Google could basically do the same.
See TechCrunch and New York Times.
