Bing cashback combines the bing search engine with a comparison-shopping engine and shopping rebates. Customers get cash for every purchase they started via the bing cashback search.
Sounds great for the consumer, doesn’t it? You get a reward for reading the advertisements (cash rebate).
But what about advertisers?
The obviously make less cash on a sale. On the other hand: they pay on a cost-per-acquisition (CPA) base. They only pay for the advertising if someone actually buys something. Neat.
Effectively, Microsoft splits its advertising revenue with the consumer to give an incentive for watching/clicking advertising. Thus it increases click-through-rate (CTR) and the willingness to buy – which makes the whole idea very interesting for online advertisers.
